Craig Usher’s work is uncomfortable today because it rejects an impersonal, clinical approach to interpretation. Raw Works effectively summarizes the discontent of the artist within the context of fashion and the capitalist market. It displays works which seek to reconnect with the lost, forgotten, or ignored elements of life; presence, consciousness, patience, and persistence. Raw works provides an intimate view of the artist and maker; an intimate view which is manifested both materially and psychologically.
